Big B's ma-in-law tale

What is she forcing him to do?

Amitabh Bachchan stay in Bhopal is proving different from usual location shoots as he is getting home-cooked food everyday from his mother-in-law.

Amitabh is shooting for Prakash Jha's 'Aarakshan' in the city, which is also his wife Jaya's home town.

"As I work in Bhopal, my sasural, my wife's home, her mother who lives by herself there, shall dutifully prepare my dinner each night and personally come over to the hotel with it and sit beside me to feed me and supervise the meal. Coercing me to eat more, to try this and that and whether it was appealing or not," Big B posted on his blog big.bigadda.com.

Salman's 'Ready' party is on!

Guess who's with him at the shoot in Bangkok?

A get-together bringing together Bollywood A-listers Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan is being planned in Bangkok - thanks to the parallel shoots of director Anees Bazmi's 'Ready' and David Dhawan's 'Rascal'.

Anees Bazmi and David Dhawan have more in common right now than meets the eye. Considered comic maestros, they both are in Bangkok shooting almost next to each other.

Under normal circumstances, the stars from the two units would be seen hobnobbing with one another, especially since Devgn-Dutt-Dhawan bond magnificently with Salman. But blame it on the mutually incompatible schedules, the 'Rascal' team is not able to spend time with the 'Ready' team.
With David Dhawan helming Sanjay Dutt's first production 'Rascal' and Anees Bazmi determined to wrap up 'Ready', the pace is naturally frantic. Repeated attempts to party together have been thwarted.
But Anees is about to change that. He's planning a big get-together for the two units this week.

"It's really strange. We all love one another in the two units... but we aren't able to spend time together here in Bangkok. We're doing night shoots. We haven't had a moment to breath. I'm now planning a dinner for both the units. We have to meet... and I've to make it happen. We hardly get to meet in Mumbai. Chalo... Bangkok hi sahi," says Anees.

Spencer Grammer and James Hesketh: Married!

Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh were at City Hall for a wedding today.

Even though his divorce from Camille Grammer cleared the way for their nuptials, they weren't the ones getting married, however. Kelsey's daughter was!

Spencer Grammer, 27, wed James Hesketh in New York City Friday, the actor's rep confirms, along with the fact that Kelsey and Kayte were in attendance.

Construction of 1,000 mph car begins

Building work on a car designed to break the 1,000 mph (1609 kph) barrier has started.

The manufacturing of the Bloodhound SSC is a major milestone for the UK-based team behind it and formally marks the end of a painstaking design process led by chief engineer, Mark Chapman.

"The biggest challenge is keeping the car on the ground," Chapman said.

"We spent two-and-a-half years building up concepts and pretty much eight months ago we cracked the aerodynamic shape that is

completely stable up to 1.3 mach (858 mph) and creates no lift."

It was "a real light bulb moment," Chapman says, and paved the way for detailed plans to be drawn up for the car's frame and interior.
The chassis consists of a carbon fiber composite front end, made by UK-based Advanced Composites Group, while the back half of the car has a steel lattice frame covered with an aluminum shell.

The Bloodhound SSC's slender frame -- nearly 13 meters long (41 feet), 1.5 meters wide and two meters tall -- will house three separate engines.

At the center of the car sits an 800 bhp Formula One engine built by UK-based engineering firm, Cosworth.

The engine will not only help power the car, it will also double up as an auxiliary power unit (APU) to fire up the other two engines -- a Eurojet EJ200 and a high-test peroxide-powered rocket.

Combined, the Bloodhound SSC will generate a mind-boggling 133,000 bhp -- the equivalent of over 1,200 family saloons or 160 Formula One cars, according to Chapman.

Unsurprisingly, the 6.4 ton car isn't the quickest out of the blocks and would be outpaced by a Bugatti Veyron -- the world's fastest road car -- in a drag race from 0-100 mph -- taking 15 seconds compared to the Veyron's seven.

But it's no contest after that, Chapman says, as the Bloodhound SSC goes from 100-1,000 mph in 25 seconds.

And at that speed, it really is a case of blink and you'll miss it, Chapman says.

"You could be sat in Wembley Stadium and the car would come in one end and out the other while you blinked," he said.

Wing Commander Andy Green will be driving the Bloodhound when the record attempt is made in late 2012 or early 2013.

Green is a hugely experienced British Royal Air Force pilot and was at the helm of Thrust SSC when it set the current land

speed record of 763 mph (1228 kph) at Black Rock Desert, Nevada in 1997.

But 1,000 mph is a giant leap forward for everyone involved on the project.

"Thrust SSC was designed to do 850 mph and it managed 763 mph. We can predict pretty closely what will happen up to 800 mph but beyond that we don't know exactly what will happen," Chapman said.

"The biggest unknown is how the wheels damage or don't damage the surface of the desert because the only way to test it is to actually do it."

Chapman and team have spent two years scouting for a suitable location to carry out the record attempt -- traditional places where land speed records are broken simply aren't big or flat enough, he says.

They finally settled on the Hakskeen Pan Desert in South Africa which Chapman thinks should allow them the 10 miles of flat surface they need to complete a record attempt.

Building is expected to be completed within a year with the first runway tests getting underway in the spring of 2012

OMG: Justin Bieber Goes Bald!

Would the girls still swoon over Justin Bieber without Justin Bieber's signature haircut? Jimmy Kimmel decided to find out last night on his ABC talk show.

When the host threw the idea out there, the star was surprisingly receptive. After they returned from a commercial break, the air fell out of the room.

Justin Bieber displayed a completely shaved, bald head:
"I like it," Kimmel said, admiring his handiwork. "You look like a young Lex Luthor!" Bieber concurred after a moment, "I kind of like it, too."

But was it real or just a funny prank the two pulled on the audience (with an assist from Diddy)? Follow the jump for his full interview and see:

Sorry, Beliebers, for trying to pull one over on you. But you can breathe a sigh of relief: it turns out it was all just a stunt, courtesy of a bald wig.

You have to admit, though, that whole interview was pretty great. The Bieb is a good sport if nothing else, and he raised a valid point in there.

If he were bald, you'd just have to focus on his voice. We imagine a few of hims 7 million Twitter fans could live with that. Besides, it grows back.

Ajay's playing 'Power' games?

Were Big B, Sanjay Dutt kept waiting because of his demands?

Dates problems have delayed Raj Kumar Santoshi's 'Power' for which the director was in touch with Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn. Now a meeting bringing together the main stars of the film is on the card to get the troubled project moving again.

We hear that producer Feroz Nadiadwala and Santoshi will be getting together the A-listers to sort out all the confusion over dates.

"We'll only proceed when all the stars are with us. We're having a meeting with them soon," said Santoshi.

There were reports that Ajay is in. Ajay is out…In….Out…In! Finally, Ajay, whom Santoshi met recently, has agreed to return to 'Power', but at a pric
"Santoshi met Ajy. The star has agreed to return to the project because of his very close association with Santoshi over 'The Legend Of Bhagat Singh', 'Halla Bol' and 'Lajja'," said a source.
However, the hitch is how to get the other actors to co-ordinate their dates with Ajay?

A source very close to the project said: "Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor are very busy stars. Their dates were taken for 'Power' and wasted because of the problems with Ajay's remuneration and dates. Now his dates have to be co-ordinated with the others."

Big B, who is shooting another film 'Aarakshan' for the same producer as 'Power', is expected to adjust his dates between the two projects. But Sanjay and Anil are apparently committed to other projects
